The Stand, a California-based fast-casual restaurant known for its elevated American fare, is getting ready to open a new location in San Diego at 1640 Camino Del Rio N.
The company’s third San Diego location is set to open within the Mission Valley Shopping Center, according to recent filings submitted to the Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The Mission Valley center’s online directory also lists The Stand as “coming soon,” alongside fellow new tenant Kura Sushi, as previously reported by What Now San Diego. Vice President Zachary Wishengrad tells What Now San Diego that this location is expected to open in Summer 2026.
Founded by CEO Murray Wishengrad, The Stand has steadily grown its footprint across the state and into Texas. The brand currently operates 20 locations in California, including two in San Diego: Carmel Mountain Ranch and Santee. The new Mission Valley location would bring the total to 21 and continue the company’s strategy of targeting high-traffic suburban and urban nodes.
The Stand’s menu features a broad range of American comfort food with a modern twist, including burgers, sandwiches, salads, wraps, and specialty bowls. Seasonal offerings include the Piri Piri Chicken Bowl and a Thai Iced Tea Milkshake, while some locations offer a full bar. The brand also partners with local suppliers for ingredients, including fresh-baked bread, custom-ground beef, and regional produce.
Known for its community outreach programs, The Stand frequently hosts fundraising nights, with up to 20% of proceeds donated to local organizations. Their “Eat Good, Do Good” initiative includes social media support and custom marketing for participating groups.
Mission Valley’s retail corridor continues to attract national chains and regional players alike. The Stand’s arrival adds another fast-casual option to the area’s growing food lineup, reinforcing its appeal to both residents and visitors seeking quality, convenience, and value.
