Por Vida Café announced last week that after a year and a half of being open in National City, they’ll be closing up shop to focus on their Sherman Heights venue, original Barrio Logan location, and brand new cafe at Old Town Urban Market. Taking over their space at Westfield Plaza Bonita Mall is the brand new Three Boys Coffee

Named for Owner Ricardo Rivas’ three sons, Three Boys Coffee made a quick turnaround of the Por Vida space. Rivas tells What Now San Diego the owners of Por Vida have made the change of ownership an easy process, acting as mentors through the process of building a new coffee brand.

Rivas explains Three Boys Coffee has a 1940s theme, with a rustic, old-fashioned look. The drinks all boast throwback-style nicknames like Shy Guy, Mama’s Boy, and their signature drink is the Three Boys Iced Tres Leches Coffee with housemade tres leches syrup.

Also on the menu blended frappes, flavored black teas, Strawberry Lemonade (also made in-house), sugar-free flavored coffee options like mocha and caramel, and their best selling Cafe de Olla. Three Boys are preparing partnerships with local bakeries to provide food options to pair with their coffee and teas like Peruvian Empanadas and other pastries.

Three Boys Coffee will celebrate their grand opening on Saturday, June 11th. Find them on Instagram for more information.
