San Francisco’s Next Big Skyscraper Will Include a Rosewood Hotel

The ultra-luxury hotel will occupy 15 floors of the forthcoming 61-story building.

A high-end hotel by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been announced as the first tenant of San Francisco’s next skyscraper, according to a press release from the Hong Kong-based hotelier. Rosewood San Francisco will occupy 15 floors of the 800-foot mixed-use development designed by architects Pelli Clarke Pelli, the same firm behind the Salesforce Tower and the Transbay Transit Center, in the city’s up-and-coming Transbay District.

“As one of the most dynamic and innovative cities in North America, San Francisco offers an eclectic mix of culture, cuisine, art, technology and adventure, and is an ideal destination for the Rosewood brand,” Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be a part of this revolutionary new development and look forward to providing our affluential explorers and San Franciscans alike with a stylish and refined new icon to enjoy for years to come.” 

Groundbreaking on the 1.1 million square-foot development is planned for the first quarter of next year. It will include condos and office space in addition to the hotel, as well as a pedestrian bridge connecting the tower directly to Salesforce Park.

Plans for the Rosewood San Francisco include 180 rooms, a location of Rosewood’s Asaya spa, a fitness studio with an indoor lap pool, an indoor-outdoor restaurant, a patisserie and the Manor Club, a private lounge for guests. The location will be the hotel’s third in California, in addition to Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park and Rosewood. The hotel expects to open in 2026.
