According to SF Eater, Chef George Dingle and his wife and partner, Anissa Dingle, are preparing to debut their first restaurant — a modern British gastropub named Dingles Public House — in Hayes Valley.
Coming to Inn at the Opera at 333 Fulton Street, taking over a 1,000 square-foot space that was formerly home to the Scandinavian restaurant Pläj, the restaurant will be located across the street from the War Memorial Opera House and the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall, and only two miles away from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
“It’s a unique opportunity to do something that’s not super abundant in California,” George Dingle tells Eater. He adds, “We’re doing something really British.”
Menu offerings will include a Sunday roast topped with gravy and served alongside Yorkshire pudding, meat pies with mash and parsley sauce, Scotch eggs and sausage, and sticky toffee pudding. Fish and chips will also be served with mushy peas, curry sauce, and tartar sauce.
The interior design will be cozy, featuring a fireplace and a “prominent” bar, the Journal shares. The walls will be painted British racing green, and banquettes will be upholstered with maroon leather. Additionally, the restaurateurs are in possession of the original tables from Monsieur Benjamin — a modern French restaurant at 451 Gough Street, and their former employer — and have refurbished them to use in the dining room.
When asked when he plans to open the restaurant, George Dingle told What Now San Francisco, “We’re hoping for sometime mid to late October.”
