Hana Japan Steak & Seafood, a family-owned teppanyaki restaurant, is considering opening a new location in Pleasanton.
A recent liquor license application signals the company is interested in growing in the Bay Area. Co-owner Jong Yoon tells What Now that it is very early in the process, and the only thing that is set in motion is an application for an ABC license. The company currently has locations in Berkeley and Dublin.
Hana Japan was founded in 1978 by Chef Yoon, who aimed to combine family, community, and culinary excellence through the art of teppanyaki. The brand has remained family-owned, serving the Bay Area for more than 45 years with locations in Berkeley Marina and Dublin. Each restaurant emphasizes a chef-led dining experience, with meals prepared tableside with precision and theatrical flair.
The potential Pleasanton location reflects the company’s growth and commitment to expanding its Bay Area presence. If plans come to fruition, it will offer diners a chance to experience Hana Japan’s signature blend of fresh ingredients, high-quality USDA Choice and Prime Black Angus Beef, and a wide selection of seafood.
Menu highlights include dry-aged ribeye, filet mignon, New York steak, jumbo shrimp, cold-water lobster tail, salmon filet, and combination entrees, served with hibachi vegetables, fried rice, soup, and salad. The restaurant also offers a children’s menu, appetizers, desserts, and specialty drinks designed to complement the hibachi experience.
