According to a recently submitted alcohol license application (Type 47: On-Sale General Eating Place), the Oakland event venue The Alice Collective — operated by Always Fishing Hospitality Group per the filing — will soon open as a restaurant at the company headquarters at 1001 24th Street (near establishments such as Chile Bravo Grill, Hyphy Burger, and JJ Fish and Chicken).
What Now San Francisco reached out to Always Fishing Hospitality’s president, John Silva, to learn more about the group’s plans for the restaurant; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
This marks a shift for The Alice Collective, a business that has, until now, operated as an event space that hosts private parties and pop-ups in Oakland at 272 14th Street. This is also a change for Always Fishing Hospitality — it currently utilizes the 24th Street space as its headquarters, as well as a catering and event venue.
According to the group’s website, “Always Fishing Hospitality was created out of the ashes of the pandemic.”
The company shares a glimpse into how it got started: “Like many of us, the shift in the world drove home the importance of the moments in life shared around an incredible bite and a delicious sip. Two successful hospitality entrepreneurs were not willing to let their businesses be a part of the negative story and decided to narrate their own tale of gathering and overcoming.”
“John Silva and Ted Wilson brought their brands and teams together to create a suite of businesses that are more powerful together than apart,” the statement continues.
“While their team is consistently exceeding and impressing clients in their home base of the San Francisco Bay Area and North Bay restaurant, they have also found a niche helping to reinvent and rejuvenate restaurants, catering companies, and bespoke lodges across the United States. As their cornerstone, the group covers full-service event planning, catering, bar services, event design, venue management, and a full-service restaurant and inn operations,” it concludes.
Per the business’s website, Always Fishing represents four brands: Bar Car, Culinary Eye, Metal and Match, and The Alice Collective.
