For almost a decade, Babette has been the resident cafe at UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. Now, Chefs Joan Ellis and Patrick Hooker are relocating their restaurant to a bigger space at 2033 San Pablo Ave.

Ellis confirmed with What Now San Francisco that they are excited about the move and will likely welcome the public to their new digs in early 2022. While they plan to serve the same delicious menu found at the museum, they also have a few new additions up their sleeves.

Their new space spans 6,973 square-feet and includes a large back patio for outdoor dining, which Ellis notes is “essential these days with the pandemic.” Of course, a bigger space means a bigger menu, so they plan to expand their food offerings to include breakfast pastries, pizzas, flatbreads, and more.

Ellis says they will also offer beer and wine service and in the future, will likely file for a full liquor license to serve cocktails. They are extending their hours from lunch until dinner and will eventually incorporate brunch as well, which would be excellent to enjoy on that new outdoor patio.

More developments are to come as Babette readies their new cafe in the coming months. For updates and an announcement on their official opening, stay tuned to their website and follow them on Instagram and Facebook.

Correction: An earlier version of this article listed one of the owners as Patrick Hoover. Their correct name is Patrick Hooker.
