According to a recently submitted permit application, the chef behind the Mission District’s fine dining concept Ernest is preparing to debut a new restaurant named Lawrence near San Francisco’s South Park.
Coming to 448 Brannan Street, the eatery will land near establishments such as Brickhouse Cafe & Bar, the American fare eatery Marlowe, and the American food restaurant ROOFTOP 25.
“At this stage, the project is still in its early phases,” the concept’s owner, Chef Brandon Rice, tells What Now San Francisco.
For readers who haven’t yet visited Ernest, the eatery offers a “market-driven menu with intense global flavors that reflects the way that Chef Brandon Rice loves to eat — fun and approachable, yet refined with elegant layers of familiar flavors done in a new way,” it shares on its website.
The said menu includes raw bar items such as oysters, swordfish prosciutto, and bluefin tuna carpaccio, as well as entrees including Monterey Bay squid, BBQ lamb shoulder, and thick-cut LA short rib. Ernest also offers a wide selection of beer and wine.
Rice attributes his culinary style and taste to his experiences at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, his time spent in esteemed kitchens throughout Europe (including Quique Dacosta in Spain and Noma in Copenhagen) at Clio in Boston, at the Michelin-starred concept Coi in San Francisco, and to the five and a half years he spent as Chef De Cuisine at Rich Table in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley.
