According to SF Eater, Chef Michael Mina — the restaurateur behind the national steakhouse chain Bourbon Steak — is teaming up with Steph Curry to debut a new bar concept at the hotel Westin St. Francis in Union Square, as well as an additional Bourbon Steak outpost.

This upcoming restaurant in San Francisco will mark Bourbon Steak’s — a concept founded around 2009, known for its shellfish towers and steaks cooked on a wood-fired grill — eleventh location, joining spots in Delray Beach, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Orange County, Orlando, Scottsdale, and Washington, DC.

Its menu will feature raw bar items such as Alaskan snow crab, oysters on the half, and truffled hamachi crudo. Seafood-wise, cast-iron broiled shellfish platters, caviar parfaits, and crab cakes will also be served. Steak offerings will include a 32-ounce dry-aged porterhouse, a 20-ounce bone-in 100-day dry-aged cowboy, and a 6-ounce petite filet made with Australian beef.

As occurs at the existing Bourbon Steak locations, a fish sommelier — with a roving fish sommelier cart, referred to as the “Ornos fish cart” — will service the tables, presenting the daily catches on ice.

The second will be a bar with a bourbon-centric menu named the Eighth Rule that will offer craft cocktails, spirits, and small dishes.

“Eighth Rule is really Steph Curry,” Mina tells the Journal. He adds, “This is something he was so passionate about,” enthusiasm likely stemming from his ownership of the bourbon brand Gentleman’s Cut.

When asked about his expansion to the Bay Area, Mina tells the Journal, “You get sick of everyone telling you San Francisco is dead… It’s not dead. I see the numbers at Pabu. It was perfect to come back to this space I’ve been involved with for almost two decades.”

Both Bourbon Steak and Eighth Rule are slated to open in October. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook for updates.
