According to SF Eater, Dad’s Luncheonette in Half Moon Bay has temporarily shuttered following a break-in that resulted in property damage.
The eatery — located at the intersection of 225 Cabrillo Highway South and Kelly Avenue, near establishments such as Evangeline Cuisine, REBYL Coffee & Food, and Taqueria la Gallina — made the announcement on its Instagram account on Wednesday, August 13.
The post reads, “We were broken into and are dealing with major damage and flooding.”
“We will not be open for at least a couple of weeks, starting August 14. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding,” the statement concludes.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the business, Dad’s Luncheonette by Chef Scott Clark serves “American roadside classics with a California focus, showcasing the best of coastal farms in the area,” per a statement on its website.
Clark opened the restaurant at its current address in 2017, after leaving his role as a three-Michelin-star chef de cuisine at Saison.
It’s “a culmination of Scott’s desire for a lifestyle change after becoming a father,” as well as a space where he’s making “good food and having fun with it, in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country,” the statement continues.
Menu items include a hamburger sandwich (made with a grassfed beef patty served on slices of grilled Rosalind Bakery white bread and topped with a soft egg, melty Cheese, pickled red onions, lettuce, and the house sauce), mac & cheese, soup, and salad.
A reopening date has not been announced yet.
