According to recent real estate intel, a new local business called European Delights Bakery is opening in Walnut Creek at 2236 Oak Grove Road. A 1,289 square-foot retail space will undergo remodeling at Citrus Marketplace in the coming weeks.
European Delights Bakery is owned by local baker Rica Zaharia. In a phone call with What Now San Francisco today, representatives for Zaharia have confirmed that they are aiming to open within one to two months. The bakery will serve pastries, desserts, coffee, and other products.
Plans are still in development, including a website and social media accounts. That said, the representatives were not able to divulge too much information at this time. One thing is certain though, and it’s the fact that Walnut Creek is in for a sweet surprise this spring.
Currently, Walnut Creek has French bakeries, such as Brioche de Paris in downtown and La Châtaigne in Lafayette. By Heather Farm, you can go to A Sweet Affair Bakery, which is a cafe that also sells sandwiches and the like.
While it’s clear that Walnut Creek is not lacking in bakery options, we’re hoping that European Delights will encompass more regional European desserts. Perhaps some Pukfa, Shendetlie, or even Baklava? Stay tuned to find out.
