According to a recently submitted alcohol license application, Flour + Water Hospitality Group plans to expand its presence in the Bay Area.
The concept is currently gearing up to open Flour + Water Pizza Shop in Oakland at 271 24th Street, where it will be neighbor to establishments such as Calabash, the bakery Gregory’s Gourmet Desserts, and the bakery Tarts de Feybesse.
The upcoming spot on 24th Street will mark the third Pizza Shop outpost, joining existing locations in North Beach and Mission Rock.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Flour + Water Hospitality Group, a previous press statement briefly introduces the business: “Flour + Water Hospitality Group is a culture-driven San Francisco-based hospitality group dedicated to creating stand-out culinary experiences… Led by co-chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow, and their partners Kara Bratcher, Dan Nestojko, Vanya Shekell, and David Steele, the team operates Flour + Water, Flour + Water Pasta Shop, and Penny Roma in San Francisco’s Mission District, as well as the Flour + Water Pizzeria and Flour + Water Foods brands.”
The statement continues, “Since the opening of the original Flour + Water in 2009, the Group’s passion for cultivating community through genuine hospitality and memorable experiences has established the company as an industry leader.”
The Flour + Water Pizza Shop brand is known for offering a selection of pizza made “with a distinct Northern California twist,” per its website. The restaurant uses slow-fermented dough and organically grown and locally sourced toppings — and “each pizza is handmade with love by skilled pizzaioli,” the website’s menu description concludes.
What Now San Francisco reached out to Nestojko, CEO at Flour + Water Foods, to inquire about the expansion; however, he could not provide additional information before the time of publication.
