Hana Japan Steak & Seafood, a family-owned teppanyaki restaurant, is getting ready to open in Pleasanton at 11991 Dublin Canyon Road.
The new single-story 6,445-square-foot restaurant will be built on a 1.6-acre commercial plot across from the Stoneridge Shopping Center, according to public filings. Co-owner Jong Yoon tells What Now that it is very early in the process, and an opening date cannot be provided at this time. The restaurant will be larger than the existing Berkeley and Dublin locations, and will follow the same menu and interior style, although it is unclear whether this will be the company’s third location or a relocation of one of the current restaurants. Customers can expect a full bar, personal hibachi chef experience, and a menu of steak, seafood, and combination entrees.
Hana Japan was founded in 1978 by Chef Yoon, who aimed to combine family, community, and culinary excellence through the art of teppanyaki. The brand has remained family-owned, serving the Bay Area for more than 45 years with locations in Berkeley Marina and Dublin. Each restaurant emphasizes a chef-led dining experience, with meals prepared tableside with precision and theatrical flair.
The Pleasanton location reflects the company’s growth and commitment to expanding its Bay Area presence. It will offer diners a chance to experience Hana Japan’s signature blend of fresh ingredients, high-quality USDA Choice and Prime Black Angus Beef, and a wide selection of seafood. The restaurant will also provide spaces for larger parties and special events, continuing the tradition established at the original locations.
Menu highlights include dry-aged ribeye, filet mignon, New York steak, jumbo shrimp, cold-water lobster tail, salmon filet, and combination entrees, served with hibachi vegetables, fried rice, soup, and salad. The restaurant also offers a children’s menu, appetizers, desserts, and specialty drinks designed to complement the hibachi experience.
