Hog Island Oyster Co. will expand its Bay Area presence with a new oyster bar in Lafayette, marking the company’s first location in the East Bay. The restaurant is slated to open in early 2027 at 3596 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, in the space formerly occupied by Barranco Cocina Peruana.
Founded as an oyster farm in Tomales Bay in 1983, Hog Island currently operates oyster bars in Marshall, San Francisco’s Ferry Building, Larkspur, and Napa. The company also operates Tony’s Seafood Restaurant in Marshall and a retail pickup window in Petaluma.
The approximately 2,200-square-foot restaurant is expected to have about 130 seats, including 40 outdoor seats. Lunch and dinner service are planned, along with a full bar serving beer, wine, and cocktails. According to Hog Island, the Lafayette menu will combine favorites served at its existing oyster bars with dishes and specials created specifically for the new location.
The company’s other locations serve oysters and seafood dishes such as clam chowder, po-boys, and fish and chips. The restaurant will be designed in collaboration with BCV Architecture, which has worked with Hog Island on other locations. Plans also call for large-scale artwork from local artists connected to the Hog Island community.
