Oakland’s Horn Barbecue has closed down temporarily due to damages caused by a fire early last week, according to SF Eater.
The article shares, “The fire department was notified of flames at the restaurant, which is located at 2534 Mandela Parkway, just after 4 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21” when “firefighters say they found smoke coming out of the attic.”
Fortunately, no one was injured — however, the rear of the building was severely damaged and has been red-tagged, meaning no entry is permitted.
“In facing the recent tragedy that has befallen Horn Barbecue, our hearts are heavy with both sorrow and determination. This morning’s awakening to the news of our restaurant engulfed in flames was a moment that none of us could have anticipated,” Owner Matt Horn shares in a post to Instagram.
He continues, “Any assistance you can provide in these trying times would be received with immense gratitude. To facilitate this, we have initiated a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of reopening Horn Barbecue as soon as possible. This effort is not just about rebuilding a restaurant; it’s about reigniting a community space, a place of warmth, and a source of delicious food that brings people together.”
