Tucked down a quiet alley on Rose Street, Hôtel Biron Wine Bar & Art Gallery has long been a favorite among locals who appreciate good wine, rotating art, and a laid-back vibe. When longtime patron Ron Ramsubhag learned the bar was set to close, he stepped in—keeping the doors open and beginning a new chapter for the space.

“I was a patron of the bar for a few years and loved the concept of wine and supporting local art,” Ron tells What Now Media Group in an exclusive interview. “I want to keep the legacy of Hôtel Biron alive. We are tucked away in a small alley, which gives rise to the name from our customers’ hidden gem of SF.”

Ron didn’t initially set out to own a wine bar. His path into the wine world started after the death of a mentor.

“My mentor, who had passed away. His death had a big impact on me. That’s when I decided to start my wine journey. I never thought I would own a business.”

In the months since reopening, the bar has found a solid footing.

“Since the reopening, we are 1 year strong. That’s due to the beautiful community that supports us.”

Keeping Hôtel Biron running involves a lot of behind-the-scenes coordination—especially with the bar’s active event schedule. Organizing events. We tend to do 13–16 events a month, so it’s great that we have an excellent staff to make everything happen,” Ron explains.

Still, he says the most meaningful part of the experience is getting to connect with guests.

“Meeting the customers and hearing how much fun they had at our small wine bar” is what he considers the most rewarding part of the job.

Looking ahead, Ron is preparing to launch a new project that honors the person who first inspired his love of wine.

“We are about to launch a Kickstarter to make our own house wine. A dedication to my late mentor.”

When asked what he wants people to remember about Hôtel Biron, he keeps it simple: “I hope that when people talk about Hôtel Biron, they’ll talk about the amazing wine, the local art, and most of all, our growing community! Come in and join us in this new chapter of Hôtel Biron Wine Bar & Art Gallery!”

Hôtel Biron is located at 45 Rose Street in San Francisco. The bar is open Sunday through Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight.

At Hôtel Biron, guests can expect an intimate and welcoming atmosphere where they can enjoy expertly curated wines and locally sourced art. With its diverse selection of wines, rotating art exhibits, and regular community-focused events, the wine bar offers more than just a drink; it’s a place to unwind, connect, and experience the best of San Francisco’s vibrant creative scene.

Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply looking for a cozy spot to relax, Hôtel Biron promises a memorable experience every time you visit.
