Beloved waterfront restaurant, Zio Fraedo’s, will close its Vallejo location. After two decades of service, the restaurant will serve its final customers this Sunday. The owner cited rising rent costs and landlord issues as the main reasons for its closure.
Zio Fraedo’s Announces Closure
Zio Fraedo’s is a longstanding waterfront staple restaurant in Vallejo, California. Family owned and operated, the restaurant has served the community for two decades.
The menu features authentic Italian dishes and a continental menu. It is also well known for serving seafood, Italian comfort food, and tavern fare.
The restaurant owners, Tony and Sherry LoForte, shared the closure news with a farewell message on Instagram. They wrote that after 20 wonderful years of service, Zio Fraedo’s will be closing on Sunday, October 25.
Reflecting on the restaurant journey, the owners wrote, “What started as a restaurant became so much more to us because of the people who have walked through our doors.”
The closure announcement also drew lots of attention from the online community. One of the customers wrote, “Sorry to hear this. Our family has had some wonderful and memorable dinners here at the Vallejo location.”
Another customer wrote, “So very sad! Thank you for great food and great times! Such a great loss for Vallejo!”
Reason Behind the Closure
According to the closure announcement post, the restaurant is facing financial and landlord issues which made its operation difficult. The owners also mentioned that it was not an easy decision.
“Unfortunately, after extensive discussions, we were unable to come to an agreement with our landlord,” stated the restaurant owners. The new increase rent of the restaurant exceeds their ability to sustain the business.
In the post, the restaurant owners thanked the community, customers, and employees for their support. “Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives. Thank you for allowing us to serve you for the past two decades. It has truly been our honor,” said the owners.
The restaurant owners also encouraged the community to visit the restaurant one more time, before its final farewell.
