A new coffee shop called Jebena Cafe is headed for Oakland this summer. According to public records, the city approved a zoning clearance application for Jebena Cafe to operate at 2930 Telegraph Ave., the site of the former Black Spring Coffee Company in Pill Hill

Co-owner Mekky Terefe tells What Now San Francisco that this will be her and her business partner’s first venture in the U.S. Drawing from their experience working at cafes in Ethiopia, they hope to bring the taste of their homeland to Oakland.

Of course, we can expect Ethiopian roasts used in their beverage menu. There will also be locally sourced pastries and cold sandwiches to munch on. If all goes according to plan, Terefe says that Jebena Cafe should be ready to open at the start of June.

Jebena Cafe’s website and social media details are forthcoming. Stay tuned.
