Ala Mediterranean Grill and Mezzes, a Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant, has permanently closed in Alameda. In June, the restaurant posted a closure notice for a “summer break” and would reopen in July, but the owners later decided to make the closure permanent. The official statement on Facebook stated, “It is with both sadness and deep gratitude that we share the news that Ala Mediterranean in Alameda will be closing its doors. Since the day we opened, this restaurant has been more than a business to us—it has been our home, and you, our guests, have been our extended family.”

The post continued, “Every smile, every conversation, and every shared meal has meant the world to us. Watching families gather, friendships grow, and celebrations unfold within our walls has been the greatest reward of all.”

The menu featured favorites like kebabs, Butcher Kofte, hummus, falafel, flaky phyllo filled with Turkish feta and herbs, along with Turkish wine and classic desserts such as baklava and rice pudding.

Community Reaction

On Facebook, customers shared memories and thanked the restaurant for its hospitality.

One customer wrote, “You will be missed, thank you very much for the incredible food that you cooked for my family and friends, and all the great times at your restaurant.”

“We were literally just talking about heading for dinner sometime soon. Ala has been a favorite for years, not only for the incredible food, but for the wonderful, welcoming atmosphere,” another comment stated.

ALA Mediterranean Grill & Mezzes will be remembered for its warm service and flavorful food. Though it’s saying goodbye, the restaurant has already found a home in the hearts of the Alameda community. The social media post did not provide an official reason for the closure.
