According to KRON4, Bay Area pastry and candy shop Miette — known for its handmade caramels, English toffee, and selection of cupcakes — plans to leave behind its spot in Hayes Valley (at 449 Octavia Street) and relocate its flagship bakery to Pacific Heights.
Coming to 2252 Filmore Street, the shop will soon be neighbored by establishments such as Bay Subs & Deli, the casual Middle Eastern and Mediterranean eatery La Mediterranee, and the ice cream shop Salt & Straw.
“After 20 years, we’re closing our cherished Hayes Valley location on Sunday, September 14. Before the doors close, come say goodbye and savor every detail — beautiful wallpaper, graceful crown moulding, and tables overflowing with cakes, cookies, macarons,” the concept’s owner, Meg Ray, writes on the bakery’s website.
“Just a short time later — around Thursday, September 25 — we’ll welcome you into our new home on Fillmore Street, directly across from the Clay Theatre. Expect all your favorites… plus 100+ bins of Swedish Pick-n-Mix candies,” the statement continues.
“We can’t wait to see you there,” Ray concludes.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the bakery and its delicacies, Miette briefly introduces itself on its website: “We are a team of bakers and shopkeepers committed to quality. We source organic butter from Straus Family Creamery, flour from Guisto’s, almonds and citrus from the Central Valley, eggs from Petaluma, and chocolate from the family-run Guittard Chocolate Company. Once these ingredients arrive at the bakery, our team follows recipes I’ve been perfecting for decades—classics baked to order and finished by hand.”
In addition to the upcoming Fillmore Street spot, the bakery operates outposts at the Ferry Building, in Montclair Village, at Marin County Mart, and at City Center Bishop Ranch.
