According to a recent press release, a new Salvadoran eatery, Chasca Rio, is coming to San Francisco.

Taking over a space formerly home to Pompei’s Grotto — a popular, now-shuttered seafood restaurant at 340 Jefferson Street — the restaurant will land near establishments such as Cioppinno’s, In-N-Out Burger, and Scoma’s Restaurant.

“The Port Commission’s action builds on the growing momentum at Fisherman’s Wharf, which is the result of Port staff’s creativity and focus combined with investor interest in this historic, scenic, and dynamic community,” said Port of San Francisco Executive Director Elaine Forbes. “We look forward to continuing our efforts in the Wharf to bring even more innovation and activation.”

What Now San Francisco reached out to one of the concept’s owners, Chris McGarry, to inquire about his plans for the spot, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, Eater reports that Chasca Rio will offer soups, stews, pupusas, and fish.

An opening date has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
