A pre-application has been accepted for a free-standing Panda Express restaurant with drive-thru and pick-up-only areas at 1435 High Street in Oakland. The application was submitted by Ruben Rodela, an architect with Gary Wang & Associates.

Should the process continue and the formal application be approved, the restaurant will land near fast-casual eateries such as Pupusas Salvadorenas and Burger King.

Panda Express has more than 2,000 locations nationwide. According to a dataset collected by Scrapehero, California has more Panda Express than any other state, totaling 598 — 27% of all Panda Express locations in the US. The company is owned and founded by the Cherng family in Glendale, California.

What Now San Francisco was unable to contact Rodela by the time of publication. No further information is currently available.
