Philz Coffee laid down roots in the Mission in 1978, and has since expanded its coffee-brewing operation throughout much of California (even venturing east to Chicago and D.C.). Boasting sixteen coffee shops in San Francisco alone, Philz is about to open another location in Colma, at 5055 Junipero Serra Blvd.

The new spot, which shares a plaza with Wingstop and Panda Express, should serve as a go-to for anyone in need of a caffeine boost before doing a little shopping at Serra Center.

For years, Philz Coffee has billed itself as a friendly, welcoming environment for both its customers and employees, so shoppers should expect bright faces and sustainably-sourced coffee, which, in the words of owner Phil Jaber himself, is “made with real love.”

No opening date has been announced, but the new spot is expected to open this spring. Head to the website for updates.
