Proper Food could be headed for Mission Bay in the near future. The healthy grab-and-go chain recently applied for a beer and wine license at 588 Mission Bay Blvd. on a ground floor retail space beneath the FIVE 88 apartments.

This would be the ninth San Francisco store for Proper Foods, which also maintains four New York City locations and a home delivery service via Bentocart. The chain specializes in fresh, made-from-scratch sandwiches, salads, soups, and Chef’s Special takeaway meals for customers on the go.

Owners Howard and Dana Bloom created Proper Food with the philosophy that “there shouldn’t be a trade-off between eating well and eating fast,” according to their website. They’ve partnered with Executive Chef Juan Muñoz to create healthy, sustainably sourced meals that make it easy for folks to have delicious and nutritious meals in a cinch.

Based on the timing of our source, it’s possible that we may see a Proper Food location in Mission Bay by the end of this year. What Now San Francisco has reached out to representatives for Proper Food. We will update if we gain more information. Stay tuned.
