According to a recently distributed press release, local restaurateur Kais Bouzidi — the name behind Bay Area concepts such as Barcha, Bon Délire, and Sens — plans to debut a new Mediterranean restaurant at the Ferry Building.
Coming to Suite 14 — taking over the former Boulettes Larder space — Hayati (which translates to “my love” in Arabic, per the statement) will join the Ferry Building lineup alongside well-known tenants such as Nash Bakes, Nopa Fish, and Parachute Bakery.
“Establishing a presence within The Ferry Building has long been a dream of mine, and when the opportunity to take over a historic suite within the property came up at a time that felt right, our team was eager to pursue it,” Bouzidi shares.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the restaurateur’s story, Bouzidi (”born to a French mother and Tunisian father,” both of whom were restaurateurs, per the press release) grew up in Paris and, at 21, relocated to San Francisco. He opened the Mediterranean fare eatery Sens in 2007, and it quickly became known for its “happy hour, seasonal Mediterranean fare, and stunning views.” Sens’ success inspired Bouzidi to expand, opening the Mediterranean food restaurant Barcha on Market Street in 2015 and the Parisian-inspired cocktail lounge Bon Délire in 2024.
“Hayati will bring a fresh new reason to visit the Ferry Building, further establishing the landmark building as one of the top culinary hotspots in the country,” Jane Connors, the general manager of the Ferry Building, shares. She continues, “We look forward to welcoming Kais & his talented team to the Ferry Building community.”
What Now San Francisco reached out to Bouzidi to learn more about his plans for the upcoming concept; however, we could not gather pertinent information (such as what the menu will offer) before publication.
Hayati is slated to open in the summer of 2026. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook to stay up to date on the latest restaurant happenings in the Bay Area.
