Richmond’s East Brother Beer Debuting Two Bay Area Taprooms This Autumn

“We will open two new locations: The Rec Room in San Francisco and Tam Tavern in Mill Valley. Each one reflects a different part of who we are, yet all are tied to the same ethos that began in Richmond. Classic beer, brewed with care, served in spaces built for connection."

The Richmond-based brewhouse and taproom concept East Brother Beer plans to debut two new locations in the Bay Area, according to a recent social media announcement.

The Instagram post reads, “From the start, our mission has been clear. Brew classic styles with quiet precision. Honor tradition while raising the bar for quality. Create spaces where beer speaks for itself and community comes first.”

“That mission has guided every step we have taken, and it is the reason we grow carefully and deliberately. We do not open new spaces to chase growth. We open them when they allow us to live our values more fully and connect with the communities we care about most.”

The statement continues, “We would not be here without you. Our Richmond community. Our friends across the Bay. Everyone who has stood with us as we stayed true to brewing classic beer without shortcuts. Your support reminds us every day that doing something well, with patience and care, still matters. Because of you, we are here. And because of you, we are ready to grow.”

“We will open two new locations: The Rec Room in San Francisco and Tam Tavern in Mill Valley. Each one reflects a different part of who we are, yet all are tied to the same ethos that began in Richmond. Classic beer, brewed with care, served in spaces built for connection,” it concludes.

The San Francisco outpost will land in SoMa at the Metreon Mall — located at 101 Fourth Street — and the Mill Valley drinkery will be situated at 152 Shoreline Highway, near establishments such as Holiday Inn Express, Muir Woods Lodge, and the hair salon Studio Joi.

The business originally intended to debut the outposts this September; however, an opening date has not been announced yet.

Founded in Richmond, California in 2016 — when East Brother opened its 12,000-square-foot brewhouse in a historic shipyard district as “a nod to the region’s history and a reflection of [its] own values: hard work, consistency, and quality”— the business prides itself on brewing “timeless lagers and ales (Bohemian Pilsner, Red Lager, Gold IPA, and others) with a commitment to clean, balanced flavor and brewing excellence,” per its website.

The flagship Richmond location, found at 1001 Canal Boulevard, is its sole taproom in operation at the moment.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s co-founder, Robert Lightner, to learn more about the expansion; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
