According to a recently submitted alcohol license application, Santa Rosa-based concept Los Molcajetes Bar & Grill is expanding — planning to debut a new outpost in Sonoma.

Coming to 19101 Sonoma Highway — a spot formerly home to Mexican restaurant Kina’a Kitchen & Bar — the eatery will land near establishments such as the grocery store Lucky, the Maxwell Village Shopping Center, and Rite Aid.

“‘Molcajete’ is a basic item of Mexican cuisine that has been used since pre-Hispanic times and has given a unique flavor to Mexican food,” the eatery shares on its website, explaining its name.

The introduction continues, “This is how this concept arose to offer the public the opportunity to taste this jewel of Mexican cuisine in an authentic and familiar place, so they can live a culinary experience that will leave everyone satisfied.”

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s co-owner, Zacarias Mercado, to inquire about the expansion but he could not provide additional information before publication.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so follow Los Molcajetes Bar & Grill on Facebook for updates.
