According to SF Eater, the Mission District’s El Techo — a Latin American restaurant with a rooftop patio where “street eats & cocktails are the draw” — is closing.

However, its owner, Adriano Paganini, is already planning a new concept for the location.

“The restaurateur behind the 13-year-old bar says it will live again as a Cuban bar in June, rolling out drinks such as the dark rum and passionfruit-laden Havana Heat,” Eater reports.

The article also states that Paganini intends to partner with local organization CubaCaribe, whose “mission is to preserve, promote and present the vibrant cultural and artistic traditions of the Caribbean and its Diaspora,” according to its website.

For readers who didn’t have a chance to experience El Techo, the eatery introduced itself as serving “Latin American street food and cocktails ‘del sol’ in an unparalleled rooftop location with expansive city views.” The statement continued, “Our expansive outdoor rooftop features ample space between tables and semi-private booth seating with impermeable barriers.”

The name and opening date of the upcoming Cuban spot have not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
