A family-owned clothing boutique and community art space is preparing to close. Coldwater will shut down its San Jose location on October 31, 2026, after more than four years of operation. The retail store building has been sold, which led to the closure decision.

San Jose’s Coldwater Store to Close After 4+ Years

Located at 205 Jackson Street, Coldwater is a family-owned clothing store that also supports local community artists. Its offerings include streetwear, custom clothing, hats, and curated secondhand and vintage pieces.

The store announced its closure through social media. In the post, the team said the building had recently been sold.

“Unfortunately, their future vision for our space at 205 Jackson St. does not include Coldwater,” stated the team. The outlet will be closing its doors on October 31, 2026.

The team has not yet announced plans for Coldwater’s future. They said, “SJ Japantown is special; there’s no other community we would want to be a part of. At the end of the day, we are artists, and this will not stop us from creating.”

About the Store

According to the NBC Bay Area, brothers Averill, Jason, and Brian Nemedez operate Coldwater in San Jose. Situated in the heart of San Jose’s Japantown, the boutique has been a go-to destination for the community for more than four years.

The three brothers founded the in-house streetwear brand, Jubo, and Coldwater functions as a storefront for the brand.

In the announcement, the team thanked the community and customers for their support. “Being able to connect with everybody and be a part of this community has been an incredible experience that we do not take for granted,” noted the team.

Several customers of the brand expressed their displeasure following the closure announcement. One customer commented, “Y’all are the BEST. The new landlord should realize how they are already messing up the SJ JTown vibe. Sending love to all of you!”
