A daytime cafe turning into a nighttime bar is set to bring fresh energy to Seattle’s University District.
Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery owner Lois Ko is teaming up with Grean owners Steven and Andrew Kim at 4524 University Way in the former Oasis Tea Zone space, according to an Instagram post.
“This concept has been a longtime dream of ours,” Ko wrote on Instagram.
During the day, the space will operate as Grean, open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For the past three years, Grean has been a pop-up matcha shop serving international matcha, hojicha and pastries. The team is excited to open their first permanent brick-and-mortar location, according to the website.
At night, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, the space will become Elixir Dessert & Bar, serving desserts, small plates and craft cocktails.
“Born from a deep respect for cultural heritage and local craftsmanship, Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery has always been about more than just dessert. With Elixir, we transition from the scoop to the plate and the glass,” the website reads.
The one stop shop is creating a lot of excitement and buzz on social media.
“Yay!! This will be such a magical addition to our neighborhood!” Flora Forager commented on the announcement post.
“Keep saying we need more late night asian dessert places and cocktail bars!!! thank you,” another account added.
“Sounds like a cool concept, excited to come check it out!” Artem Sorokin commented.
The owners will celebrate the grand opening on February 1. For updates, visit the Grean and Elixir Dessert & Bar websites.
