According to a recent permit filing, Impresario will soon open in Snohomish near Historic Downtown at 113 Avenue C.
A representative of Impresario did not immediately respond to What Now Seattle’s request for comment.
While information is overall limited for Impresario and an opening date has not yet been confirmed, according to a recent Instagram post from the owner Bex Woolman, Impresario is currently under construction and looks like it will be a speakeasy environment.
Bex’s Instagram posts tease Impresario’s construction, cleaning, and painting process. One of the teasers is a customized bar top, created by Lance Morehouse, consisting of perfectly lined coins under a glass top finish.
For those that are unfamiliar with a speakeasy, in 1920, the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution was enacted, ushering in the era of Prohibition. This constitutional ban on the production, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages aimed to curb alcohol consumption and its perceived negative consequences.
In a time when access to alcohol was prohibited by law, speakeasies provided a hidden oasis where patrons could indulge in alcoholic beverages without the fear of legal repercussions. The name “speakeasy” itself alludes to the need for discretion—patrons were expected to “speak easy” or keep their voices down to avoid attracting attention from law enforcement or prying ears.
