According to a recent permit filing, Obsidian Beer Hall will open its doors in Everett at 1420 Hewitt Avenue.

“My goal opening date is February 29th to open to the public, but that date is tentative. I’m probably considered to be a part of the younger crowd in my late 30s, and I’m also a Black man. With that in mind, from my perspective and experience as an avid beer drinker and having been to a lot of beer establishments, I always felt super welcomed but had never been to a beer hall/brewery that was built for me.”

“Obsidian is built to be a better representation of folks like me. I want Obsidian to be a place where folks can be themselves and feel welcomed, and hopefully, a space that was built with them in mind. We will play genres like hip hop and R&B, have a chill vibe, and cognac chairs and couches,” the owner, Craig Chambers, told What Now Seattle.

“We will be starting with beer, and later on, hopefully, partner with some restaurants to serve their food. Eventually, we are hoping to expand to have a light menu, like a sandwich menu option and snacks.”

“I graduated college right after the recession and then I started working at a brewery. It was probably the best job I’ve ever had. Breweries and beer halls have always felt like a place that had positive energy, and a great way to connect with folks.”

“I started my career in a nonprofit, fast-tracked to the CEO level, and got burnt out. When considering what I wanted to do to pivot, I had always loved just pouring beer. So, I sat on it for a year and a half and figured out what brand I wanted to create with things like aesthetics and music. I will be the one pouring the beer; I want to pour beer for my community,” he added.
