According to a recent permit filing, Recusant Cellars will open its doors in Kennewick, located at 10 E Bruneau Ave Bldg C SPC 64.

“Our opening date depends on licensing, but we aim to open our doors to the public pretty soon. This will be our first tasting room venue, while our location in Pasco is more production-based,” owner Jason Merriman told What Now Seattle.

“I’m interested in having a space that not only provides wine options but also has specialty, local food items that pair nicely with them. One of those things will be specialty chocolates, and I’m working with a local chocolatier to do that. As time goes on, I hope to introduce specialty varieties of apples and cherries whenever they’re in season and other options.”

“We mainly specialize in Bordeaux red wines and more of the intense wine options, but moving forward, we will be adding some white wines or light red/rose wine options. For aesthetics, we will be bringing a rustic and/or industrial vibe. There will be wine wood barrels with wooden slabs on top for our bar, and black pipes with hanging lights.”

“We’re going to keep it simple and overall, keep it easily accessible for our customers. Recusant came from my love of chemistry and distillation during undergrad, where I originally wanted to start creating brandy. The first step to making brandy is to know how to make wine, so I dived into that by learning the ropes at Saint Michelle, which turned into a wine rabbit hole.”

“I hope to circle back to that idea of making brandy and whiskey in the future. For now, this location in Kennewick is going to be a next-level treat for patrons where you can see how things are made and grow, especially as more people discover Recusant,” Jason added.
