The newest Korean restaurant in Capitol Hill is being started by restaurant owner Heong Soon Park who has been instrumental in opening many establishments in the city.

Gol Mok Korean Market Bar will be opening around the second week of June, according to Park. It will be at 706 E Pike Street, and it will offer food that can be bought at a traditional Korean market. This is taking the space of the large chicken restaurant Taku Seattle which closed in March of this year.

“It’s a highly cultural cuisine concept,” Park told What Now Seattle.

Park has also owned Bacco Cafe and Chan Sedattle for over 17 years. He also took ownership of Luna Cafe at 2918 SW Avalon Way in Youngstown. This is a diner serving typical breakfast food.

According to Park, this will have the vibe of a retro Korean bar or restaurant from the 1980s and 90s. He is a major presence in the city’s culinary scene as he also moved the Cheese Room to the former Machiavelli in Capitol Hill, per an article from Capitol Hill Seattle Blog.

The menu has not yet been announced, but signature dishes from Korean markets can be expected. It will join other Korean restaurants in the area like Meet Korean BBQ, Lil Pocha, Seoul Tofu & Jjim, and Chan Seattle.
