According to a recent permit filing, The Greater Good will soon come to the Adams area at 5316 Ballard Ave NW FL 1.
A representative of The Greater Good did not immediately respond to What Now Seattle’s request for comment.
While an official opening date and menu offerings for The Greater Good have yet to be confirmed, the owners’ background before venturing into the world of bars and performance spaces is unique. Rachel and Joel Wilcox were accomplished cheese makers, and their passion for cheese resulted in a notable achievement—winning second place for sheep’s milk blue cheese at the esteemed American Cheese Society competition in 2014.
Hanging up their cheese-making, they currently own Underbelly. Underbelly is a unique basement bar and performance space that exudes Parisian cabaret and speakeasy vibes. Since its grand opening in May 2019, Underbelly has been a labor of love for the owners, Rachel and Joel Wilcox, high school sweethearts turned business partners, according to a Facebook post in 2021 from Vanishing Seattle.
For Underbelly, its drink menu offers a selection of classic cocktails, local beer, and natural-only wines, catering to the discerning tastes of its patrons. To enhance the experience further, cult classic movies play on a projector screen, ranging from Quentin Tarantino’s masterpieces to Dario Argento’s chilling Italian horrors and the comedic brilliance of Monty Python & the Holy Grail. The atmosphere is stylish and intimate, devoid of pretension, adorned with a cool tin ceiling, original floor tiling, and fascinating articles and posters paying tribute to the local labor history.
