According to a recent permit filing, The Ten-01 will open at what was formerly known as The Anchor Pub in Everett at 1001 Hewitt Ave.

“Our hard opening date is April 1st. The space has been a bar since 1907 and has only closed for prohibition. We want to respect the history of the building, and due to that, the aesthetic and look will continue to honor the history of the place. We are not doing anything too radical, just laying down fresh paint and sprucing it up a bit. We don’t wanna ruin it by polishing it too much,” co-owner Shane Ratigan told What Now Seattle.

“The space has a built-in stage, so we want to continue to do live music, and are also looking forward to karaoke, trivia nights, and bingo. We will be adding extra TV screens, even though we are not necessarily a sports bar, but we wanted to also be a space where customers can watch some sports on the TVs. There is a strong interest in supporting local bands and acts for The Ten-01, with the idea being a no-cover type environment.”

“For the kitchen, we will be bringing a pub-type menu. We buy our beef from Eastern Washington, and everything is local, fresh, and high quality. We will also be open for lunch and hopefully, late night once everything is lined up for staff for the kitchen. Everyone has been nice and supportive that have come by and have asked about “train beer” options. So, we will come up with a deal for train beers!”

“When it comes to the previous history created by the previous owner, the entire team at The Ten-01 has a great deal of empathy for what happened, and we have no contact with the previous owner or affiliation. Some people have been severely hurt and we understand that. We do feel like we can honor the building and bring the location back, hopefully, better than it has ever been. We will be changing the name out of respect, and we’re open to anybody who’s open or wants to discuss, and we hope to break clean from that horrible history.”

According to an article from Herald Net, “The Anchor sits in a wedge-shaped building at the westernmost edge of Hewitt, a few feet from a rail line that runs through Everett, where bartenders have been serving drinks since 1907. A stone’s throw to the south of the tavern affixed to a large rock, is a plaque memorializing the Everett Massacre, which took place at nearby City Dock on November 5, 1916.”

“The Ratigans operate The Pinehurst Pub, near Seattle’s Northgate neighborhood. The couple had been keeping an eye on the former Everett pub. When it came up for auction in November, they urged their Pinehurst landlord, Dino Christophilis, to buy it.”
