A representative of Woodland Meadow Farms did not immediately respond to What Now Seattle’s request for comment.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, according to the recent permit filing, the location will be a domestic winery.
According to the company website, Woodland Meadow Farms is described as a pioneering first-generation farming venture with a strong emphasis on local economic sustainability and eco-friendly living that embarked on a journey into the wedding and event venue business. This venture was sparked by a decidedly unconventional event – a medieval-themed wedding hosted by owner John Beal in 2009.
Encouraged by the success of that initial event, Woodland Meadow Farms officially opened its doors to weddings in 2010, marking the commencement of a new era for the property. By 2013, Woodland Meadow Farms had expanded its horizons, acquiring a 50-acre farm situated less than a mile from the original location.
Dubbed “Dairyland,” this new site paid homage to the area’s history as a former dairy farm and even harked back to one of John’s old motocross tracks from years past. This expansion enabled the farm to diversify its offerings, including the creation of a new outdoor venue at Dairyland.
