This fall, two veterans of the Tampa Bay music scene are embarking on a new project: Benton Brew Coffee House. Opening at 5008 W Linebaugh Ave, Suite 2, Benton Brew promises great coffee, tea, and baked goods, with a stage for live music.
“We are a music scene coffee house,” Angel Soto, who is opening the cafe in partnership with Carol Soto, told What Now on Wednesday. “We’ve been involved in the music business in Tampa since 2001, and you will see it in all the décor. Our drinks and menu will be mostly coffee and tea, along with baked goods like scones, croissants, muffins, and cookies.”
The couple also has a recording studio nearby, and they’ll be making creativity a big part of the cafe’s approach. With seating for about 25 to 30 people, plus a stage, Benton Brew will also feature an art and photography studio in the rear—open to the public, with a selfie station and all.
“The coffee house has been a dream in the making for years,” Angel said. “We used to own a record store, and when that closed, we thought this would be a cool opportunity. So after the space next to the studio opened up, we jumped on it.”
The space is currently under construction, with the aim of opening at the end of October.
