Buya Izakaya + Ramen has closed in St. Pete’s Edge District, but it’s not the end of the story for Buya’s Tampa Bay location: Buya will reopen in Downtown St. Petersburg, according to coverage by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.
The new Buya, which is planning to open next summer, will be rebuilding in “one of downtown St. Pete’s new high rises,” the coverage says. When it opens, it will have “more of a focus on its izakaya-style small plates. But ramen fans will still be able to get their fix.”
“Buya Ramen is a place to experience true socializing in a relaxed and high-spirited environment with friends and strangers alike,” says the restaurant’s website. “An atmosphere that encourages meeting new people and taking life “offline” with house crafted beverages and delectable food.”
When it closed, Buya was serving Izakaya Plates like Seaweed Salad, Char Grilled Edamame, Bao Buns, and Vegetable Gyoza. There were also ramen choices like Crispy Duck Ramen, Pork Belly Ramen, and Braised Short Rib Ramen.
What Now reached out to owner Michael Sponaugle on Thursday to ask about Buya Ramen’s reopening plans. Sponaugle was not immediately available for comment.
