A new restaurant is preparing to open on Pass-A-Grille Beach, serving up “Fresh Crepes, Pastries & Beachside Bites.” It’s called Cafe Riviera, and it’s opening at 116 Eighth Ave.
“Cafe Riviera is a family-owned concept led by sisters Veronica Afonzo, an experienced restaurant manager, and Rosa Dennis, a CPA,” Veronica Afonzo told What Now in an email conversation on Friday. “Together, we are building this project side by side and embracing the journey of creating something meaningful as a family. We’re on this rollercoaster together, building something that reflects our passion for hospitality, food, and community.”
A menu posted on the Cafe Riviera website includes breakfast choices (served with fresh fruit, roasted herb potatoes, or salad) like the Riviera Breakfast (scrambled eggs, Swiss cheese, ham) and the Avocado Toast Riviera (avocado, tomatoes, pesto, cream cheese). Cafe Riviera’s crepes include savory varieties like the Crêpe Complète (ham, cheese, egg) and the Riviera Salmon Crêpe (smoked salmon, goat cheese, walnuts, honey, arugula), along with a build-your-own-sweet-crêpe option, allowing guests to choose from toppings like banana, blueberry, Nutella, peanut butter, and more.
“Our concept is inspired by the French Riviera, with a blend of European and American influences,” said Afonzo. “We’ll focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients, offering an approachable all-day dining experience from brunch to light dinner in a relaxed, coastal atmosphere. Our goal is to create a space where both locals and visitors feel welcome, with warm service, great coffee, and a menu that invites people to come back often.”
Cafe Riviera is working toward a late April/early May.
