Yesterday, Nov 30, the innovative dessert shop, Chiki Churros, filed a plan review with the city of Port Richey for a new outpost to be located at 9454 US-19.

Chiki Churros owner, Louka Strongylos, could not be reached for comment, or to confirm when the new shop might open.

Strongylos first introduced the Chiki Churros concept to St. Petersburg earlier this year, when he and his family moved from their native Montreal, Canada.

At the time, Strongylos told local media outlet St. Pete Rising that the family was “tired of Canadian winters,” so they “did what we have always talked about and moved somewhere warm.”

Eager to bring a little of that Canadian charm to the sunny shores of Florida, Strongylos ended up opening Chiki Churros, a concept that takes an otherwise familiar treat and gives it a unique twist from north of the border. Most notably, with the shop’s Churro Poutine, a plate of mini churros piled high with marshmallows, dipping sauce, and choice of toppings.

Meanwhile, aside from a sundae and Chiki Churro platter, Strongylos also offers a churro dog, which is exactly what it sounds like – a 100 percent all-beef hot dog, wrapped in churro dough and served alongside dipping sauce and choice of toppings.
