De Facto Cafe, the beloved “cozy cafe offering coffee and pastries as well as a play area,” was a constantly popular destination in Largo.

“A wonderful coffee shop full of positive energy with a very kind staff!” said on 5-star review of the cafe on Google Maps.

“Great atmosphere, great service and great coffee!” said another.

Although De Facto Cafe has closed in its original location, at 1901 W Bay Drive, the brand has now announced that it’s working on a reopening.

“A familiar aroma is on its way back,” says the brand’s Instagram page. “De Facto Café reopening soon…”

The only question is, where? As it happens, What Now found submitted plan review documents showing “De Facto Cafe” opening at 1401 Gulf to Bay Blvd in Clearwater. Opening there, near the Hillcrest Motel, De Facto Cafe would join a food and drink community that includes nearby restaurants 45 Sports Bar & Lounge and Waffle’s Dream.

What Now contacted a representative of De Facto Cafe on Wednesday to inquire about the cafe’s reopening plans. The representative declined to comment, however.
