This December, Peninsula Bed & Cocktails, the boutique hotel located at 2937 Beach Blvd S in Gulfport, will be adding a new restaurant to its roster of amenities. It’s a concept residents of Central Florida’s west coast may already be familiar with: Mademoiselle Paris.
Founded in 2016 by owners Jean and Myriam Dandonneau, Mademoiselle Paris is a French bakery and restaurant with locations in Bradenton, Sarasota, and Anna Maria Island. The Gulfport location brings the brand to Pinellas County for the first time.
“In 2015, when we moved to Florida, we just fell in love,” Jean Dandonneau said in conversation between What Now and the Dandonneaus on Thursday. “We decided to invest in a bakery and restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
From there, a second location opened in 2021, and a third in 2022. “Everything was working very well,” Dandonneau said, and the couple decided to expand once again.
“A friend took us to see the Peninsula, and even as we were passing through the streets, we said, ‘This is the place. It was a great opportunity, a place where we could open a restaurant and a bakery, with a separate dining room.”
The space in question is currently under construction, and it’s expected to seat somewhere between 150 and 200 guests. Plus, there’s an extra twist: at this location, Mademoiselle Paris will be serving cocktails for the first time.
The menu at the new location, which the Dandonneaus shared with What Now, will include appetizers like the Plateau Delicieux, a selection of cheeses and other charcuterie. There will be salads, Panini like the Monmartre (chicken, tomatoes, bacon, parmesan, cheese & pesto), and sandwiches served on croissants and baguettes—plus Hot Sandwich classics like Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame.
There are also build-your-own savory crepes, allowing guests to choose from ingredients like ham, bacon, bleu cheese, mushrooms, pesto, and more.
“We will also do our once-a-month wine tasting,” said Myriam Dandonneau, thus continuing the Mademoiselle Paris tradition of once-monthly tastings of French wines like Bordeaux and Burgundy, with pairings. “We also offer catering services, which we will be doing more and more, as we’re in the hotel, and just a few meters from the beach.”
