The retail center located on the northeast corner of State Road 580 and Frontage Road in Clearwater looks to be the home of the city’s first cat cafe. Called Purring Cats Cafe, it’s in the works at 2440 State Road 580, Suite 11.
What Now confirmed the news with Monica, a co-owner of the cafe, on Wednesday. Monica said plans for the Purring Cats Cafe are still under review and that it’s therefore too early to share much detail about the project.
Purring Cats Cafe would be the only cat cafe in Pinellas County, Monica said—a previous cat cafe in the area had not been, properly speaking, a cafe (more of a “room with cats”—not that that sounds so bad!).
As currently proposed, Purring Cats Cafe would serve coffee with small eats like pastries and sandwiches. For now, we will just have to wait for more news about the project—we’re hoping to see it go through and be checking it out sometime next year!
