Jersey Mike’s Subs, the sub shop that has grown, “since 1956,” to include more than 3,400 locations in the U.S., has been in the news this week with the announcement of an IPO that will take the sub shop chain public with nearly 13.8 million shares selling at between $21 and $25, according to coverage by the Wall Street Journal.
Big growth stories always happen on two levels: the macro, national-headline level (Sub Shop Mega Chain Goes Public) and the more granular, local level of entrepreneurs opening individual locations. Here’s one of the latter: Spring Hill, Florida, which already has one Jersey Mike’s location, at 1376 Pinehurst Dr., now appears to be getting a second.
Barclay Crossing, the shopping center at Spring Hill Drive and Barclay Avenue in Spring Hill, looks to be adding a new Jersey Mike’s to its food and drink portfolio. This week, What Now came across plan review documents submitted by JMS Barclay, LLC for a new Jersey Mike’s, opening in the retail center, at 14363 Spring Hill Drive, Suite 1050.
Anchored by a Publix Super Market, Barclay Crossing is also home to a Meineke Car Care Center, along with restaurants like Padula’s Pizzeria and Up 4 Breakfast.
“Lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and spices still top amazing authentic sandwiches across the nation, carrying on the namesake who created the store over 65 years ago,” says the Jersey Mike’s website. “Our secret to longevity has been making sure that everything is always high quality. Our meats and cheeses are all top-quality premium brands. Our bread is fresh-baked each day on the premises. And of course, everything’s prepared right in front of you. It’s what makes Jersey Mike’s the most authentic tasting submarine sandwich.”
