Leidos Announces Layoffs at a Maryland Facility
Leidos is a technology, engineering, and defense contractor. It is a Fortune 500 company that offers digital services and science-based solutions to both government and commercial clients. The company filed a WARN notice on April 2, 2026.
According to the notice, the company will lay off employees at its facility at 6910 Cooper Avenue, Fort Meade, MD 20755. It is a mass layoff with no recall, taking effect on May 31, 2026. In the filing, the company did not outline the reason for the layoffs.
The federal WARN Act requires employers to give advanced notice to both the state agencies and employees for mass layoffs or facility closures. This allows impacted workers to prepare and access reemployment assistance programs.
This is not the first workforce reduction the company has announced this year. In January 2026, Leidos filed a WARN notice in Virginia stating that it would lay off 93 employees at its 22001 Loudoun County Parkway plant in Ashburn. The layoffs took place on March 23, 2026.
