A beloved DC restaurant is taking a quick breather, so it can come back stronger and bigger than ever. The Green Almond Pantry will be shutting down to renovate its current space and pursuing plans to open a new location, reports popular Twitter feed @eat_dc.

Green Almond Pantry, the brainchild of chef Cagla Onal Urel, has not yet announced a location for what it is referring to as a “sister restaurant” to the eatery. Information on the new space is sparse; an opening timeline is not available, nor is it clear if the new eatery will deviate in any way from the existing Green Almond Pantry.

A social media post on the restaurant’s Instagram page states: “First, the teensy bit of bad news – we will be briefly closing Green Almond Pantry. But the good news is… we are expanding our Green Almond kitchen & more exciting news to follow soon ..stay tuned !!! We need to close our space while we work on some remodeling in our kitchen to prepare for our future expansion.”

What Now DC has reached out to Green Almond Pantry for comment but has not yet heard back.
