A smashing new restaurant is preparing to bring straight forward, delicious burgers to DC. 7th Street Burger, which made its District debut in Georgetown last summer, is opening an outpost in Dupont Circle, reports local media outlet PoPville.
Boasting a smash burger that’s earned rave reviews from everyone who’s tried it-critics and casual diners alike-the restaurant is setting up its grill at 1850 M Street, NW. The storefront has a history of serving fast-casual cuisine to DC diners, having previously housed a Qdoba.
Despite sharing a passion for feeding customers, the building’s incoming resident is a pretty large departure from Qdoba. 7th Street Burger flipped its first patty in New York in 2021. Despite being a relative newcomer to the culinary scene, the concept has already earned avid fans, including Eater critic Robert Sietsema, who described the eatery’s titular dish as “an absolute joy to eat”. Customers have clearly agreed; the chain now has 19 storefronts, mostly concentrated in New York.
An opening date has not yet been announced for the Dupont Circle location; the 7th Street Burger website has it listed as “coming soon”.
The concept owes a great deal of its success to keeping its fare simple and high-quality. The website offers this insight as to what awaits Dupont diners: “We’re here to serve up real flavor with no frills IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Just great burgers, done right. 7th Street Burger exists to deliver the ultimate smash burger experience—simple, craveable, and unapologetically bold.”
While the menu is, of course, incredibly burger-focused, 7th Street Burger hasn’t forgotten its vegetarian guests; each of its four variations on the sandwich can be made meat-free by subbing in an Impossible patty. Guests can rest assured that fries are on the menu, ensuring the meal is complete.
