Clyde’s Restaurant Group plans to bring a new charcoal-fueled seafood restaurant, called Cordelia Fishbar to DC’s Union Market area in summer 2024.
The seafood eatery is the latest in Clyde’s Restaurant Group’s portfolio, which includes some of DC’s high-end restaurants and bars such as 1789 Restaurant, The Tombs, Clyde’s Kitchens, and Fitzgerald’s.
Cordelia Fishbar is slated to open at 550 Morse Street NE, Clyde’s Restaurant Group said on its website. Cordelia is a name of Latin, Celtic origin that means “heart; daughter of the sea.”
“Cordelia will offer a unique dining experience, featuring a global seafood-centric menu with a focus on cooking with charcoal. The new restaurant is poised to become a culinary destination for neighborhood residents and visitors,” the website read.
The new restaurant will span nearly 10,000 square feet and seat up to 250 people. It will also include a large classic bar, sidewalk dining, and private event space.
“They’re still restaurants that are serving a lot of burgers, at the end of the day, and sometimes the more fanciful and esoteric cuisine moves down the product list when it comes to sales,” John McDonnell, Clyde’s Restaurant Group president, told the Washington Business Journal about the new concept.
McDonnell continued: “Sometimes, our chefs also want to do things with a greater level of ambition, and it seemed like doing a seafood restaurant in a smaller format with a little bit more ambitious menu really rang the bell with a lot of people here.”
