Renowned restaurateur Kevin Kelley is bringing a new exciting cocktail concept called KANVAS Lounge near Mount Vernon Square in DC.
The team behind Kitchen+ Kocktails is planning to open the new upscale bar and lounge at the lower level of 1300 I Street NW on September 1, featuring hand-crafted cocktails served in vessels, bar bites, and bottle service. The creative cocktail lounge will be open Fridays and Saturdays between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The team is excited to see KANVAS coming live after being under development for two and a half years. Kelley told What Now DC that the location, spanning 3,500 square feet, is the ideal space for his latest concept.
Kelley said that KANVAS will be an entirely different concept than Kitchen + Kocktails, with an identity showing his own culinary creativity.
“We designed the space in such a cool way with a mix of fashion and sports sexiness and fun and we got so many creative cocktails with glassware, featuring swans or body figures and we have a glass that is actually a teddy bear frozen cocktail that comes with gummy bears. We’re so excited to share KANVAS with the DC market,” said Kelley.
The menu will feature a number of crafted cocktails and drinks. Though KANVAS will not be a full-service restaurant, guests can still get a delightful taste of crab cake sandwiches, fried lobster bites, sliders, and a special food item made of two donuts with a fried egg, bacon, and cheese in between the donuts.
Kelley and his team want guests to feel an absolute new vibe when they walk into KANVAS. The new bar and lounge feature celebrity images and magazine covers on its walls, a design composed of blended dark colors, and a sports viewing area, promising guests a “fun good time” with their friends and romantic partners.
